Since the release of the website, we’ve been contacted various times by email and/or twitter regarding questions about the site. We’ll attempt to keep this updated with the questions that come up most frequently. If you don’t see one listed here, please email us.
Q: Why the name “LineProjector”?
A: Projector really has a couple of meanings in our mind:
- An apparatus for throwing an image on a screen. This is basically what we’re doing with our line movements. We take BetOnline’s lines and “project” them on a screen. By looking at these detailed line movements, often times you can figure out which way a line is headed or you can see open and closing numbers. Often times, we’ve found these detailed line movements very useful in predicting when we can get the best number.
- One that plans or schemes (aka predicts lines). We have a model that we have used pretty successfully to predict opening lines for various sports. Unfortunately, this isn’t available to the public yet because we’re still working out some kinks. The bottom line is: We’re not comfortable putting something on the website that we wouldn’t back with our own money. Hopefully before long we will be able to release this and everyone can take advantage of a valuable tool.
